Feels like home

Mom loved it there. She liked the activities they had, music, PT and art. The staff was attentive and available. They had a garden area and she liked the "home" atmosphere. She liked being around where meals were cooked, and flexibility on eating times. Also had a hairdresser who came to the house weekly and she enjoyed that. I always felt she was well cared for there. My brothers and I were there almost every day. It's not institutional at all, very home focused.

Great experience!

It gave our family such peace knowing our mom/Grammy was at Eden Care Home in OKC. She IMPROVED when she got there because of the loving attention and level of care. What an improvement from the so-called assisted living places we tried. She got delicious meals, desserts, special diet when needed, entertainment, painting, a cozy home and all the hugs she could handle. We so enjoyed visiting, too. Eden Care was a blessing to our whole family. We were not qualified or able to give Mom what she needed, but these caregivers were. What a wonderful experience and peace it was to know Mom was in such loving and capable hands.

Home Away From Home

Our family has been very pleased with the exceptional care & supervision here. The staff is kind, loving, responsible & very attentive. It truly is like home away from home in the smaller cozy environment of a home like they are coming from.

The Cottage is our home and family!

My parents have the wonderful distinction of being the first residents at the Cottage. I remember the day I walked into the Cottage for the first time and instantly felt at home. It was an answer to my prayers during a very difficult time of our lives. Here was a home where my parents, one with Alzheimers and the other with deteriorating physical disabilities could live together in a setting truly similar to their own home, with knowledgeable, compassionate caregivers and full time nursing care. Shannon, the owner and nurse for the Cottage has always been hands on and willing to go the extra mile to be sure that my parents are safe, well and happy. She and the other two nurses are always available, day, night, weekend and holidays. They and the caregivers truly treat my parents and me as their own family. Shannon and her staff have been instrumental in coordinating home health and hospice services. There is even a physical therapist on staff. When my parents have needed extra care, Shannon has either provided the staff or helped me to obtain them. She routinely provides an art therapist and either she or one of the caregivers often do craft projects with the residents. As the heath of my parents waxes and wanes the staff is adept and flexible in meeting their needs. My father passed away just shy of being at the Cottage for a year. The quality of his life and passing were substantially enhanced by the care he received at the Cottage. Shannon, the other nurses and the caregivers have become part of our friends and family. I feel like the Cottage is my home away from home. This atmosphere has eased the pain of his passing and helped to improve the step-mom and my quality of life. Indeed my step-mom has thrived under their care some two years past her husbands passing. Again, the Eden Care team go above and beyond their roles as nurses and CNA's, treating us as family and creating a atmosphere as close to our true home as can be. They are always there for us.

Residential Care Home
November 14, 2015

In 2013 when the Eden Care home on Apple Valley Drive opened its doors, my husband was standing in line to be the first male resident. Frankly, the family had hoped Don would be able to remain in his home of the past 43 years , but as years slipped by, safety became an item. Three floors of lots of stairs, a pool, and a couple of inviting parks for wandering proved too risky. The next stop was a large facility which offered Memory Care on a big scale, and there was hope that the stimulation from programs and the attention to him personally would be beneficial. There were lots of games of Bingo, field trips, entertainment, but the loss of about 1/ 4 of his eyesight plus the continued ravages of the disease continued too quickly. He suffered frequent falls, loss of weight from not being able to see food , toileting issues. His condition was not BAD enough for the full time nursing care offered, and not GOOD enough to stay in Memory Care. We were asked to find a new living arrangement where he could be given the care he needed. We found an Eden Home. The physical house was attractive, the staff well trained and professional, and the atmosphere calm and peaceful. Such special things as location with easy access to highways for visitors, aromatics (?) mneumtic therapy (?), cooperative interaction for Hospice and special needs workers, visits from a barber shop made life for him all that he could need. The quality of care, however, is the very best treasure of all. Of the many positive aspects of life for of care residents of Eden homes that deserve description, the total can be summed up with those little words, the quality of care. Are we glad our map led us to 4025 Apple Valley Drive? Just ask me, or ask my kids!!

Two Caregivers for Five Residents

I like them a lot. My mom has been in both larger places and smaller ones, and Eden Care Cottage has only 5 residents. They do OK for what they are in terms of activities, it is a very nice if you want to live in a home and not a larger facility. They are able to help you a little more. The ratio of caregivers vs large assisted living is much better, this is 2 people for 5. If you need that extra bit, it is a pretty neat idea.

Not for Everyone

Eden Care Cottage at Oak Tree is a pretty home and provides a quiet setting for the elderly person in your family who may need 24 hour care. My mom lived there for 5 months and it was not, for the most part, a pleasant experience. Before moving mom into Oak Tree, my sister and I had a long discussion with the owner about the challenges of caring for our mom. The owner assured us that her staff was well versed in dealing with the problems my mom was facing (dementia, confusion, distrust). Unfortunately, several of the staff members did not have the patience or experience to handle my mom and there was conflict. Overall, this was a disappointing and expensive lesson in finding a place for mom ($2,000 non-refundable community fee, and $7000+/month).
