Evergreen Cottages Provincial, LP

Our loved one has been living at Evergreen Cottages for about 4 weeks and is doing very well. The intimate 16 person facility, the 24 hour personal care and the complete involvement of all the staff have made this the most comfortable and safest place for our loved one. The care and kindness of Evergreen Cottages just blows me away! I think the dog is great. She is a puppy that was found in bad shape on the property. She is now healthy and I believe that when she is a bit older, the plan is to train her as a service dog. This is just one of the ways that Evergreen Cottages uses creativity to develop therapeutic activity for its residents.

This was one of the locations we looked at when looking into memory care for our loved one. It is a very nice looking place, and the staff we spoke with were very friendly and helpful. It's a much smaller, more intimate community than some that we looked at. Unfortunately our loved one had a specific level of needs that they didn't quite fit.

This would be a good place that provides a little more individualized care for each resident. If you are looking for more bells and whistles, I would recommend you continue looking. Due to the community being smaller there is typically one choice for the residents for each meal. There three meals a day served to the residents. The community doesn't have many activities due to them being a smaller community.

The facility is really clean and well maintained. Security is in place for the memory care patients. The staff greeted us enthusiastically. We were given a thorough tour and all our questions were answered. The our only concern was the activities for the residents because we did not see a schedule of activities.

I went on a tour here and the staff was nice and helpful. They answered all of my questions. This was a nice, clean community. We were looking for a private room and all they had were semi-private rooms. So it just wasn't a good fit for my mom. I would recommend families tour as many places as they can before making a decision.

We picked this community because from the very onset the staff was attentive and interested in our needs. The physical look of the facility is very, very nice. We evaluated what they offered with what our needs are and we determined it was a good value based on the great care. The staff seems to be very responsive to the needs of my sister. When issues arise, they communicate with us and resolve them quickly. I am very impressed with the facility. It's very clean and spotless. We have had two minor issues with medication. When we brought it up to the staff's attention they took ownership immediately and they are addressing the issue. I would say overall the business and clinical side of the facility has been great. There have only been two occasions where I wasn't pleased. With it being a memory care unit, I have to be let in and out of the unit. I had to seek out one of the employees to let me out. They just seemed to be preoccupied with other things. In general, I have been very pleased and I would recommend this facility.

They kind of gave me a special deal. They contracted me out for two years at a certain price because I couldn't afford more than that. The care is okay. They're better than some of the other facilities that have more people in them. I think the limit here is 16 so they have fewer people to take care which means better care. I know that they play bingo and basketball and I know they have church on Sunday. I didn't look at any other places because this is really close and I got it for a good price. It's just a better environment. I've been happy there until they got dog. I don't know why they let this one person have dogs. It's just not, to me, conducive to have with dementia people.

Like the fact that it is close to my home and church. Love the layout, beautiful kitchen,and large yard. Lots of research in designing facility. Bedrooms are smaller than what I had hoped for. I would like to return at a non meal time to observe interactions.Bill was very easy to talk to.

the facility is set up well for the resident rooms, lobby, conference room, kitchen, open to the dining/living room. There has been a lack of adequate staffing and staff turnover. There needs to be better management, operators, and quality assurance of the three shifts and staff to improve. My mother is happy so I handle their issues daily.

I would highly suggest you never place your loved one here. It was the worst place I have ever been to or experienced. The staff lacked training, the staff waited several hours watching my loved one struggle to breathe. I ended up calling for emergency assistance since the staff didn't do this. The staff didn't even call family about how our loved one was struggling. The staff communication with the family was extremely poor. The meals were horrible, it was full of salt and they served multiple items out of packages. There is nothing home cooked about the meals they served. There were hardly any activities for the residents to participate in. The community doesn't have an activities director. In fact they are winging it with the staff they do have that aren't trained properly to care for the residents.

The care that they promised was not the care that was delivered so we removed our loved one from the community. She has had strokes in the past that caused some brain damage, and she had fallen five times while she was at the community. We had made the director known of her health that caused some cognitive issues. We had a camera in her room to check on her, and we noticed when the staff would bring her to the room for the night they would put her walker across the room, this is what caused her to fall. It would also take the staff awhile to come to her aid when she would fall. We had asked for a list of medication they were giving her and there was a medicine in the form of a tranquilizer which was a mild and a stronger one. They were giving her that on a daily basis and we had no idea this was taking place. Some of the staff was very caring and the food was really good, she did enjoy that.
