FirstLight Home Care

My mother received 2 weeks of services from this home care. I wouldn't recommend this home care. The reason is because my mothers quality of care was very inconsistent. The agency was good at sending someone out right away. The care givers were okay, some were good and other's not so much. The ones that were good, they did a great a job caring for her and her needs.

The administrative staff at First Light Home Care was very easy to work with and very accommodating with last minute schedule changes. The consistency of care provided by the caregivers was disappointing and for that reason I would not recommend First Light. There was one woman who was outstanding but most everyone else was sub-par. The women did not take any initiative, some were sloppy and unprofessional in appearance and spent most of the time texting on their cell phones. One woman forgot to remind my mom to take her medications, one woman forgot to bring her walker when dropping her off at my house for a day of doctor appointments and we had to clean up another woman's snacks after she left.

We have one caregiver, [Removed] who meets the needs and has the professional knowledge to care for Mrs. Rammelkamp. It has been a rotating door of inexperienced caregivers. One left my fall risk mother in law in the shower alone with the bathroom door shut. One could not seem to pull herself together because we had cats which unnerved her. One texted and used phone continuously. We have an organized setup, but several have not been able to come in without detailed instructions. One or two that left dirty dishes or could not handle patient comfortably. We have notified each time. [Removed] should have noted each time that we have let them know. Again, Jamecia is the only caregiver that works efficiently and seamlessly. Taking good notes and always monitoring and assisting Mrs. Rammelkamp. We are working with the Montgomery office but not sure if we can continue if Jamecia is not available. Very shocking how some of the caregivers have passed the interview and or recommendations.

I'm not having a very good time with them right now. I am trying to get a hold of them, and I am having a hard time. I am not having very good luck, they have had people quit, and had a couple that have had a rough time, one of them even took my loved one's phone away so she wouldn't bother me. They are having a hard time finding people to come out. I haven't had a great experience with them, and they certainly aren't relieving my stress.

Would never recommend this company to anyone. First visit was bad as “caregiver” was not prepared to care for my Mother. She was also very late. Company didn’t charge us for visit at least. Second visit the “caregiver” was late again and we had to cancel. Hate to leave a bad review but can not recommend this company. Hopefully they get it fixed for others.
