Right At Home

They were an okay service. The worker aide bleached a lot of my clothes, so there are a couple linens that look funky. I had several services over the past couple of months and Right at Home was about average.

It is really hard to rate when your mother is only receiving care four hours a week and there's no former experience with agencies. I have been annoyed with the administrator because she does not respond to my emails and I live out of town so it makes more work when I have to call her to make sure she gets the emails and information I send. My mom is just so-so about her caregiver who is new to the profession and it could be my mom is just in denial about needing assistance and not like anybody assigned to assist her. I think the caregiver could be more energetic and positive then my mom would look forward to seeing her enabling me to hire her for more hours a week.

Everything was wonderful. However the first girl that helped my loved one get to his appointment did not have a good presentation. She had dirty hair and no make up. She did not look professional. I was grossed out. Other than that it has been good. I had no other complaints. My overall rating of this property is 3 stars. I can't rate the cleanliness because that does not apply because this is an agency.

The caregiver came out on time the first time and every weeks, had to tell this person what to do instead of taking initiative.

We are currently using this agency. My 92 year old mother lives in our home. I am her only caregiver and have no siblings. Unfortunately, I have my own health issues so need to know I have back up. Contacted this agency and discussed my needs. We lost the caregiver we had. I had to keep an appt in the Bay Area, contacted this agency and someone was out that day and had a caregiver here the next morning. Great! I need someone to shower my mother twice a week. The minimum is $49.50 for a shower. The girl is probably here 1/2 hour. She has done an adequate job. I had an emergency with my eye. Wanted to see if the girl could stay with my mother if we were not home. Had to leave a message with some after hours person. I then left two voice mails with the office and never received a call back. Luckily, we were home before the girl left. She did get the message the key was under the mat. Thank goodness as my mother would not have answered the door. The caregiver said she never received a message to stay. This past week, due to the Holidays and family being here, told her and the scheduler for her not to come on Saturday. 10:30 Saturday mirning,ms he showed up! Previous to this, she was here one mirning at 9:50 AM. Her schedule had been changed and nobody notified us. Overall, I am not happy with this agency and don't feel I have the back up they assured me I would. All the agencies are expensive but I may certainly be checking other ones out again. Hard to rate as this is a service, not a care facility.

My parents are very happy, they like the caregiver. They presented themselves in scrubs and ready to work, and were specifically talking to my parents rather than just me. The first week there was some issues with getting a caregiver started, they had brought one with them to the initial interview and we got to spend some time with her, then the first week she didn't show up. She wasn't able to start, and it took a little bit of time to find a more permanent caregiver. She has offered to do some things that are an extra charge that my parents don't realize is an extra charge. That is a little frustrating. Overall they have done a pretty good job though.

The need to get more male caregivers. They told me this won’t be an issue. I need the male caregivers to help lift me. They haven’t missed any appointments and other than the needing male caregivers, I haven’t had any issues with them.

Too soon to tell. I was present for the initial assessment of my mother and indicated that when my father went into the hospital, my mother would need some regular service on those days. The ccompay did not pursue that when it did happen. My parents used the service a few times and my father complained that they did not stay the entire time period yet billed for it.

We found the female owner to be warm and quite lovely as were most of the aides they provided. The husband, however, is rude, unprofessional and makes the entire working atmosphere almost unbearable.

spoke to the director, registered nurse and owner. She opened business because of inadequate care her mother was receiving. Her business is licensed by the state, she personally does interviews with employees and clients to match correct caregivers. 20.00 per hour for 2 hours or more. 28.00 for 1 to 2 hours. If both people need care it is an additional 25%. Located across from church, old Neshaminy High School on Maple Avenue. Received email and brochure from them. They do DMV checks going back 7 years, criminal background checks also. Services offered include assistance with bathing, showering, hair, teeth, housekeeping, laundry, errands, doctors appts. , company. No minimum required. Can have same person every week if that is more comfortable for them.

Talked with the director $17.00/hr; 4 hr min.

I was not happy with the care that we would suppose to get from the in home caretaker. We told the service what we needed. We did not find someone who wanted to do what was needed. We did not get a follow up on services if needed. We want someone who is willing to do what is required for the care for my mom.

It's a mixed review. We have found a few people that we like and they come fairly regularly. However there are a couple of shifts that they send different people. The people they have sent have not been good, or not a good personality match, and one was particularly rude. We have one of the regular caregivers that will take those shifts, but there seems to be a scheduling hierarchy, or office politic or something, because we keep getting different people. There have also been communication breakdowns between the scheduling people and the caregivers, because they don't seem to know exactly when they are supposed to be here.

Thankfully the services were only needed temporarily. We utilized services for one week for my Dad while we attended a wedding out of town. It could have been better is saying the least. The agency did not do its best at finding the perfect match and aired my 92 year old father with a man that didn't even know how to operate a microwave nor a coffee maker. There was also a language barrier which deferred them from having any conversation. Overall I believe that if the agency communicated better and did a diligent job at finding the perfect match it would have been a better experience. I would not use them again.

We were initially spoiled, since we had the same person on weekdays , and occasionally on weekends. She was superb! Unfortunately, she went back to school at College of Charleston late last month. Right at Home found someone who lives about 15 minutes from us in Johns Island and she has worked out very well for my wife. My main issue with Right at Home is being so small, if somone calls in sick, which has now happened twice, they cannot find a replacement. I also had to request not to send a specific person, since the last time she was here, she was on the phone continuously and was coughing all the time.

The first girl we had was good, but not very reliable. The first day they couldn't get the girl to show up. They weren't very reliable in general, since the next person they sent wasn't very punctual either. We weren't able to keep a consistent person. Another caregiver that came out wasn't very professional. We just didn't have a great experience with them.

It's only been a month since attempting to utilize services with Right at Home. We've already had 12 different caregivers and none of them are very informed as too what their job is or what they are supposed to do while there. All that I really care about is having someone there to make sure my Dad is safe while I'm at work and there has been times when they didn't even show up! I am not even sure that I will continue working with this agency at this point!

When you a loved one gets to the point where they need At Home Care givers, you want someone that you and your loved one can trust. You build a relationship with your loved ones care giver(s) and a bond is formed... The caregiver essentially becomes a part of the family. This caregiver learns the best ways to care for your loved ones and knows what does/doesn't work. They become routine and the duties of the job don't need to be reiterated every time they come to your home. They know how to help your loved one from the bathroom (because it can be challenging), once they learn and know... your loved one trusts them. 1 solid caregiver is ideal, 2-3 other REGULARS will suffice. With that being said... This agency is great if you don't really care who is treating for your loved one... they will be cared for by different caregivers every other day. Your loved one with have to repeat over and over the duties to each and every new caregiver that walks into their house... because believe me. there will be alot of various different ones. So don't get too attached to just one of them, because as soon as you do the people that are behind those desks at the agency will catch on. They will take them away from you and send you brand new ones for your loved one to deal with. Repeat everything and anything they need because those caregivers haven't build the rapport and they just won't know the routine. They won't have that opportunity because they will get moved to someone else's home the next day. All of this can be a very frustrating, emotional and draining roller coaster ride for your loved one. I wouldn't recommend this agency to anyone who needs care like my mother needs. I want my mother to be at peace and live a life without hassle, worry and confusion. Needless to say, my mother has since moved on to a new agency and is now, unfortunately, experiencing similar situation again... So soon we will be doing a further investigation on the next agency we choose to go with. It is so hard to make conscious decisions if no one writes honest reviews... Good luck with your search... P.S. Spanish-speaking caregivers are not currently readily available with this agency. Only a small fraction of their caregivers are bi-lingual.

The person I spoke with when I was looking into a home aide for my Dad was very unprofessional, and did not inspire confidence in this service. I did not follow up with them after that.
