We were originally caring for my mom in our home. And with the pandemic, we felt she just wasn't getting enough interaction. So we decided to try community living, and it's been a lifeline for her. It's small enough that after a short time, the staff knew her by name. They look out for her, and go out of their way to make sure she's comfortable. She's happy there, which was my biggest thing. It's very clean, and they keep her apartment impeccable. The laundry service picks up and delivers the next day on a weekly basis. I've walked the grounds and haven't seen anything that was unkempt, or noticed any smells. As far as activities, their hands have been tied due to Covid, but I know they're at least having bingo every day. I visit almost every day and ask her about the food. Most days she'll say it's delicious, and other times she'll have negative feedback about a particular meal. From comments other residents have made, they feel the same way. They say the food is good overall, with the occasional meal they don't care for. It is pricey, but I feel like the the value is there.

Our loved one was only there for a couple months and while we have nothing negative to say about the community are loved one did pass away from contracting covid. They had a good environment and the first month was great and wonderful, and she was really feeling comfortable. The people were nice and she connected very well with the residents there, it was a positive experience for the short time.

My loved one hasn't been there too awfully long. I see him via Facetime and take him to appointments. From what I've seen, I've been satisfied. The staff has been good at communicating with us, and they showed us around as much as possible while maintaining resident safety. Our family is well known there. We did not place him and forget about him, and we do our best to advocate for him. They are recently opening up now for in-person visits, and they've been accommodating with those. It's not home, but my loved one is adjusting and seems to be happy.

I have had experience with a few assisted living facilities and the Arbors at Islandia-East is by far the best one I have encountered. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The entire place is very well kept and the resident's room is always spotless. It happens to be the best bang for your buck also!

Arbors has allowed both of my parents to be able to still live together. Both need some degree of services and help, an the Arbors provides that. Both my parents are happy with their living experience at the Arbors.

My dad moved into The Arbors at Hauppauge a little over a year ago. Within 30 minutes of arriving, he chose not to stay in his beautiful room, but to join in on a Scrabble game, where he met Yvonne, Dana, and Astrid. Since then, he’s met more of the Arbor Angels, and has spent his days socializing, attending prayer services, painting, and dancing! He loves the people and the food. As for the place? He calls it his home.

I love the recreation team. I love the activities that are planned daily. My favorite thing is arts and crafts. my stay here has been short but i have loved every minute. cant wait for the warmer weather to enjoy the patio and outdoor games. what a team! what enjoyment! everyday I look forward to something new. I am motivated to meet new people everyday. thank you!

I love it here. The people are very caring. They treat me like family. Everyone is there when I need them. I have made so many friends here .I have a very nice roommate. I love the scenic bus rides they offer as well as other activities.

I am so pleased with the Arbors of Hauppauge. I was truly concerned with mom staying at home alone. The Arbors is what mom needed. Residents were everywhere, staff friendly and helping mom make new friends it was just an all around homie feel. I can not thank everyone enough for all that have done this past year. kudos!

my mom recently moved into the community. From day one staff was so friendly I felt like I already knew everyone. My mom is a social butterfly and fit right in with the residents at her dining table, they even attend activities together. I could not be happier. Seeing my mom adjust to a new way of life has eased any fear may of had.

The Arbors has been wonderful to my family. They know my dad's favorite sports teams, his hobbies, how he likes his eggs. Anytime I've ever had a question about anything they get back to me right away. Good value for the money in the area. Recommend.

My mom has been living at the Arbors Hauppauge for 3+ years. We are very pleased by the level of care she receives. Recreation, under the guidance of [name removed], engages the seniors in stimulating activities. [name removed] and her staff look out for the residents in a loving manner. When my mom had trouble with her television, [name removed] came up to mom’s room and showed her how to work the remote. She painted the buttons with nail polish so mom would know what buttons to press: Wellness is very attentive to her needs and returns our calls in a timely manner.

We chose The Arbors because when we went to this particular facility, we walked in and it felt like you were walking into someones living room not a nursing home. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. They bent over backwards for us especially with moving him in here during covid. The one main selling point was they did not up charge if your loved one had to take medications, it is all included with the price unlike the other facilities we saw. They gave us a tasting on the food before we moved him in here and it was awesome. When covid is not going on, they do provide a lot of activities for the residents. There are also a lot of men at The Arbors, which was nice, most of the time it is primarily women. I would highly recommend to others looking.

It was with great concern and trepidation that we moved our dad to an assistant living facility, after interviewing different locations we chose The Arbors in Bohemia. They have made his transition as seamless as possible, the staff is patient, friendly, caring, and compassionate, we are very pleased with the daily activities offered to the residents. The wellness center has been great in dealing with the challenges that dad has presented them, they order and dispense his medication, we are using the in-house doctors, we are happy with them and most important dad accepts and likes them, it's not easy for a 98 year old man to accept changes. I would like to give special thanks the director and the activity staff, they are special people

My mother will be a three year resident at the Arbors in Bohemia come this April. I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to the entire staff for the dedication and care they have shown my mother during this time and for the efforts they have made to maintain the safety and welfare of the residents during this pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, I visited my mother every day. Since the pandemic, I have only been allowed peek-a-boo visits. The kindness and caring shown during these visits, not only to my mother but to me as well, is greatly appreciated. It gives my family great peace of mind to know she is there.

I would want others to know that the process to get her in here was very simple and polite. The staff members made it very easy and it is a great place. They are doing a great job with my mom. They set up face-time every week during the pandemic so I can see her. I would absolutely recommend.

My first experience was my mom sharing she met a lovely woman. [name removed]. [name removed] gave me a tour of The Arbors after my mom felt this was where she wanted to live after my dad passed. [name removed] was professional, kind, understanding, gentle and took time to meet my moms needs. The Arbors is really a home away from home. I requested that my mom be at a meal table that would be suited for her. Done!!! I requested that if they can keep an extra eye at the beginning since my mom was anxious. Done!!! The workers/angels truly care about the residents/family members. [names removed] ( a nickname for a worker by my mother ) [names removed] are just a few of the staff members that are amazing. There are so many more. Dropping of clothes to snacks no matter what I am greeted with a smile and thankful that my mother has found a place that she feels same. Move in day: Forgot to change the heat in the room. Mentioned it on the way out. Woman says dont worry we check on all residents every 2 hours. [name removed] was clocked out but offered to go back and make my mom comfortable. Not many workers go above and beyond but at the Arbors maybe they are really just angels disguised as workers. There is no other place!!!!

Moving a parent into an assisted living is an emotional and life-changing experience, filled with sleepless nights, second guessing, and endless behind-the-scenes legwork. But the staff at the Arbors of Hauppauge made the transition for my dad seamless. He moved in at the end of January, and despite all of the uncertainties going on in our world at the moment, my dad is safe, well-cared for, and happy. It is the biggest piece of mind I could ask for. My first contact was a phone call with [name removed]. [name removed] patiently listened to my dad’s story, answered all of my questions, gave me tips, gentle advice, and explained the next steps that followed. On Tour Day, [name removed] took us through the Arbors of Hauppauge’s beautiful and spacious facility, and all it had to offer. It was impressive to say the least. But it wasn’t the building that led us to our decision. It was the communal energy of the people within its walls. The staff was nurturing and bubbly towards both the residents, and each other. The residents were friendly, and happy, and shared pieces of their own journeys with my husband and I. I could have sat and chatted with them for hours. Several ended our brief visit with, “I hope your dad will come.” From there, we met the Wellness director, [name removed], who has since moved on, yet still deserves to be praised. My dad’s move was delayed when he fell and broke his hip, days before discharging from the Nursing Home. We were devastated, but for over two months, [name removed] visited him, and kept contact with us, and helped to lift our spirits until dad was finally able to move. My dad’s move in day was on [date removed], and to my delight, he didn’t want to stay in his beautiful room decorated with all of his favorite things. Instead, he opted to go to “Happy Hour” and it most definitely was. We had root beer floats - one of his favorite’s - and met [name removed], who my dad loves to pieces. He played Scrabble with [names removed] - who became his friends, and who he dances with at parties. Since that day, we’ve met so many wonderful people... [names removed]... the care, recreation, housekeeping, and front desk teams. Every last person is patient, friendly, and willing to help and answer any questions. We are in the midst of a pandemic, and visits with my dad fluctuate between limited and prohibited. But my dad is safe, well-cared for, and happy. And for this, I am content, and grateful to the angels at the Arbors of Hauppauge.

After seeing a few different Assisted Living homes, we picked The Arbors for the best layout for my dad. His love of the outdoors and plants was fulfilled with a patio right out his back door and the guided walks outdoor around the building after exercise class. Dad is impressed how every staff member is friendly and helpful. They offer good recreation options and he really likes the food. It was a difficult transition getting him comfortable there but the staff was helpful and supportive to all of us, they answered phone calls and concerns and tried different ways to help him adjust. It has been difficult but we’re happy with our choice and feel grateful for the wonderful care our dad receives.

The Arbors community is a very fun and caring place, the admissions person was just fantastic, she is very caring and very welcoming. The rooms are very comfortable, they come fully furnished with five items, or you can use your own furniture. You can also choose to have a roommate or have a room to yourself. The chef is just fantastic, he is truly a great guy and he makes delicious food. During COVID the staff has really done the best they can to keep the residents active and engaged.
